Box of tasty baked goods |
Meringue Pie - It's not a pie, but that is what it said on the receipt. It's crunchy, chewy and slightly sweet. One of my favorites. |

Sesame Mochi Bun - This is another one of my favorites. It's so unassuming...crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. It's slightly sweet and the black sesame seeds adds a nice toasty flavor. |

Ham Bun - One of the savory treats. It has ham, onion and I think a touch of mayonnaise. This one is really good! I wish I bought more. I will just have to go back. |
Taro Donut - This one is like a glazed donut filled with a sweetened taro...the consistency is like chunky mashed sweet potatoes. I like that this is not overly sweet. |

Why you should go: I've been there twice (once at each location) and so far I really liked almost everything I had. The first time I went here I bought a few things and ended up buying more of the ones that I liked the most which were the Sesame Mochi Ball and the Meringue Pie. So far the banana bread is the only thing I wouldn't buy again. It was dry and tasted unnatural.
Everything I've had so far is not overly sweet and thats what I love about their pastries.
They have the cutest cupcakes and cakes too. They also serve specialty coffees, teas and shave ice.
Tips and What to expect: Although I have not tried it yet, their Turtle Bread is supposed to be really good and I believe it's their signature baked good. I'll try it one day. I haven't tried it yet because it's a lot bigger than all the others and I like variety.
The Kalihi location is newer, larger, nicer and finding parking is easier here. Although I live closer to the King St. location, I will drive the extra miles to the Kalihi location because of this.
This is a great place to stop at before you go to the beach....which is exactly what I did.
